is clara an actual character to some people
because literally everything she does is compared to rose and it’s like she can’t have a single character or ship-y moment without somebody making it completely about someone who isn’t even on the show anymore
Yes, the speech between the Doctor and Clara reminded me a lot of the speech between Nine and Rose in “The End of the World.” But, you know, this doesn’t make Clara like Rose. It just means Rose and Clara are both human. It’s a natural reaction to seeing your entire world literally flash before your eyes and be reduced to nothing but ruin. Of course it’s going to freak the hell out of you.
It’s demeaning to Rose and Clara both that people keep constantly comparing Clara to Rose. Rose is Rose and Clara is Clara, and they’re both wonderful on their own.

“I still love him.” Rose confessed this into her tea, her blonde hair hanging in her face so the woman sitting opposite of her couldn’t see the tears shimmering in her eyes. “I know he’s a new face now, and it’s been hundreds of years for him. It’s been 25 years for me. And I love John and our kids with all my heart. And you and the Doctor … you’re married. But, I still love him.”
River reached across the table and took the younger woman’s hands in hers. She squeezed lightly, and Rose finally met her gaze.
“I know,” River said gently. “And, he loves you as well. He’s never stopped. You’re a part of him, and you’ll always be so.”
“You’re not jealous?” Rose asked incredulously.
“You made him very happy. How could I be jealous of someone who’s made him happy? You saved him after the Time War.” River arched an eyebrow. “Are you jealous?”
“No.” The answer was immediate and the stone cold truth. Rose returned the squeeze. “No. I never wanted him to be alone. I’m glad he has someone. I was jealous, once, years and years ago. With Sarah Jane at first. Then Martha Jones, what little I had heard about her in my traveling between the worlds. But, it was silly. I was silly.”
“You were in love, and you were young. Trust me, I had my jealous moments as well.”
“Of me?”
River laughed. “No. Of me. Let me tell you what happened the first night I traveled with the Doctor after I was imprisoned in Stormcage.”

Yeah see but this mentality is what I don’t get. Why do people assume that to love River you have to hate Rose or to love Rose you should ergo hate River? And why is loving both of them so abnormal it seems funny? I just do not understand this mentality within this fandom, when there is literally no reason you can’t love both.
I just… don’t get it.
Here’s a repost of the two fics I’ve written to date where Rose meets River. No animosity. No jealousy toward each other. And a surprise appearance by Nine. Because I ship Doctor/River and I ship Doctor/Rose.
