“Well, no, not really, because the plan was, which I really hope I fulfilled, is that the reader, like Harry, would gradually discover Ginny as pretty much the ideal girl for Harry. She’s tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she’s gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he’s a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He’s a marked man. I think she’s funny, and I think that she’s very warm and compassionate. These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. But, I felt — and I’m talking years ago when all this was planned — initially, she’s terrified by his image. I mean, he’s a bit of a rock god to her when she sees him first, at 10 or 11, and he’s this famous boy. So Ginny had to go through a journey as well. And rather like with Ron, I didn’t want Ginny to be the first girl that Harry ever kissed. That’s something I meant to say, and it’s kind of tied in.”—J.K. Rowling on Harry/Ginny. This is the collection of Doctor/River fic that I’ve converted to the Kindle thus far using my current converter (see footnotes). There’s authors I plan to add but have to create files in another program for that. If there’s an author you’re interested in seeing or a story you want to read, please send me an ask. Likewise, if you’re an author and don’t want your fics here, please let me know.
* Some of the ebooks I previously converted and shared, such as the Blue River series, I’m going to reconvert and upload because the converter I currently use is much better than the one I was using last fall.
** Holy crap, I read a lot of Charina’s work, don’t I?
Anyone interested in a post where I share my Doctor/River fanfic ebook collection? And is there anyone who needs epub? I have them all formatted for the Kindle right now, but can easily convert to other formats using calibre. A good bit of it is Charina, but I’m always up to getting other stuff converted.
Chapter 6/6 of Turkish Delight on a Moonlit Night “But that’s not possible. She was sealed into the Seventh Obelisk. I was at the Prayer Meeting. Well no, I get that it’s important. An Egyptian goddess, loose on the Orient Express. In space.”
Doctor Who fanfiction written by Charina, read aloud by me…
I mostly did this for myself so that I can listen to Charina’s fic while driving/working out/whatever. I’m mostly just goofing around and I don’t really expect anyone else to want to put up with my voice (sorry, canadian, no british accent here!) but just in case anyone wants to listen I thought I’d post it here.
THAT’S IT! all finished! I put a lot of work into this project and, while I know it’s not perfect, I’m pretty proud of it!
I think that all writing is useful for honing writing skills. I think you get better as a writer by writing, and whether that means that you’re writing a singularly deep and moving novel about the pain or pleasure of modern existence or you’re writing Smeagol-Gollum slash you’re still putting one damn word after another and learning as a writer.
(I just made that up. I imagine it would go something like: “Oh, the preciouss, we takes it our handssses and we rubs it and touchess it, gollum….no, Smeagol musst not touch the preciousss, the master said only he can touch the precioussss…. bad masster, he doess not know the precious like we does, no, gollum, and we wants it, we wants it hard in our handses, yesss…” etc etc)
Has PBS really emailed all the winners for the NYC Sherlock event?
I thought they were notifying everyone on the 26th.
I definitely have seen many people receive theirs already. Have they said anything to indicate there are more to come?
Weren’t there two emails to send to? The one I got from them was from email@example.com
I was checking the Facebook page again and saw this:
